UK energy supplier OVO Energy is expanding its support programme ahead of winter by giving away free electric blankets, mattress toppers, and other energy-saving products to help families cope with rising energy bills. This initiative is part of a £56 million package, complementing the £190 million in aid the company has provided since 2022, including efficiency kits and smart sockets. Eligibility for the support is required, with customers able to check through OVO's website. OVO's CEO David Buttress emphasized the need for long-term solutions like a social tariff to ensure no one is left behind. Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Council is offering free electric blanket safety checks, replacing faulty blankets free of charge, to protect residents from potential hazards and provide additional energy bill advice. These measures reflect broader concerns about increasing energy costs and the need for targeted support during the colder months.
