Santa Monica Seeks Pit Bull Owner After Fatal Attack
A violent dog attack in Santa Monica has left a toy poodle named Dublin dead, and police are seeking the public's help to identify the owner of the pit bull responsible. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Friday near Main and Strand streets when the pit bull attacked the poodle, fatally injuring it, and also bit one of the poodle's owners during the altercation. The pit bull's owner fled the scene with the dog, captured on security cameras, prompting a police investigation and public appeals for information. The poodle's owners, Alyssa Kluge and Christopher Dietrick, who are posting flyers, are urging the pit bull's owner to come forward and take responsibility. Santa Monica Police consider public safety at risk and are asking anyone with information to contact Santa Monica Animal Control. Potential charges in such cases generally fall under misdemeanor offenses, pending the investigation's outcome.
