Two Arrested in 2019 Wilminton Cold Case Murder

Wilmington Police have arrested 22-year-olds Dion Young and Ameer Dunn in connection with a cold case homicide dating back to December 28, 2019, when 67-year-old James Pinkett was fatally shot. Following a lengthy investigation by the Cold Case Unit, both men were indicted for their alleged roles in Pinkett's murder and linked to two additional shooting incidents. Young faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder and attempted murder, and is currently held on $1.5 million bail. Dunn, who was arrested in Houston and extradited to Delaware, faces similar charges and is held on $866,000 bail. The investigation was initially led by Detective Mackenzie Kirlin before being taken over by the Cold Case Unit, which worked to secure the indictments in December 2024. Officials stress that the suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
