Santa Monica Beach Death Under Investigation

A homicide investigation is underway in Santa Monica following the discovery of a woman's body on the beach near Lifeguard Tower 1550. The woman, believed to be approximately 30 years old and homeless, was found inside a sleeping bag with visible trauma to her face by beach maintenance personnel around 7 a.m. on Monday. The Santa Monica Fire Department pronounced her dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been determined, and the circumstances of her death are still under investigation. Santa Monica Police Department is appealing to the public for any information that could aid in the investigation, with contacts provided for Detective Peter Zamfirov and Sergeant Alfonso Lozano. Homicide is suspected due to the nature of the injuries.
