Vancouver Whitecaps Sign Midfielder Stuart Armstrong

Vancouver Whitecaps FC have signed Scottish international midfielder Stuart Armstrong to a Designated Player contract through 2026. Armstrong, 32, joins the Whitecaps after a successful stint at Southampton, where he helped the team earn promotion to the Premier League. Sporting director Axel Schuster praised Armstrong for his tactical awareness, experience, and ability to enhance the team's attack. A product of the Dundee United academy, Armstrong has also played for Celtic, winning multiple titles and has been capped 51 times for Scotland, including participation in UEFA Euro 2024. His addition is expected to strengthen the Whitecaps’ midfield, potentially partnering with former teammate Ryan Gauld. The Whitecaps are currently fifth in the Western Conference and aim for a playoff spot as well as a Canadian Championship title.
