District Magistrate Arvind Mallapa has ordered all schools and colleges in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district to close from July 26 to August 2, 2024, due to the Kanwar Yatra, an annual religious pilgrimage. Similar measures are being implemented in Haridwar, where schools will also close from July 27 to August 2. School schedules have been modified in Varanasi, Indore, and Ujjain to ensure student safety during the pilgrimage. Heavy rains in Pune have led to the closure of schools in the city and surrounding areas as per an order by collector Suhas Diwase. Dehradun and Pithoragarh have also closed schools due to a warning of heavy rains and thunderstorms. Authorities urge citizens in affected areas to take precautions.
