Taiwan, Somaliland Seek Stronger Bilateral Ties

Taiwan's Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung met with Somaliland's new representative, Mahmoud Adam Jama Galaal, to discuss enhancing bilateral ties and collaboration in various sectors, including healthcare and energy. Galaal, who recently completed his appointment procedures, expressed Somaliland's interest in cooperation on maritime security and thanked Taiwan for its financial support in local infrastructure projects. Taiwan has committed substantial funding for projects in Somaliland, including a US$22 million medical center in Hargeisa. Meanwhile, diplomatic discussions continue in Asia, with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi promoting stable relations with South Korea ahead of a trilateral meeting, emphasizing economic cooperation and mutual support. Additionally, the Taliban's foreign minister met with a U.S. envoy to discuss bilateral relations and prisoner releases, indicating ongoing diplomatic engagement regarding Afghanistan. Lastly, Vietnam is reinforcing its strategic ties with China, aiming for enhanced political, economic, and cultural exchanges.
