Five individuals were injured in an explosion caused by a cooking gas leak in the Bouddh Nagar area of Pimpri, near Pune, early Wednesday morning around 5:30 AM. The incident occurred when one of the residents turned on a gas stove, igniting leaked gas from a 5 kg cylinder, which is suspected to have leaked overnight. The victims, identified as Manoj Kumar (19), Dhiraj Kumar (23), Govind Ram (28), Ram Kumar (40), and Samendar Ram (30), were all hospitalized at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital, where they are reported to be out of immediate danger. Fire brigade officials and police are investigating the incident, with preliminary reports indicating a connection between the explosion and a faulty gas pipe. The local authorities have assured that measures will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
