Bumrah, Mandhana Named Leading Cricketers in Wisden 2024

Jasprit Bumrah and Smriti Mandhana have been named Wisden's Leading Cricketers in the World for 2024, marking a significant achievement for Indian cricket. Bumrah was recognized for his extraordinary all-format performances, including being named player of the tournament as India won the T20 World Cup and becoming the first Test bowler to reach 200 wickets at an average below 20. Mandhana earned the women’s honour after a record-breaking year, scoring 1,659 international runs—the highest ever by a woman in a calendar year—and leading Royal Challengers Bengaluru to their maiden Women's Premier League title. West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran was named the Leading T20 Player of the Year, while Wisden’s Five Cricketers of the Year included Gus Atkinson, Jamie Smith, Sophie Ecclestone, Liam Dawson, and Dan Worrall. The accolades underscore the dominant role both Bumrah and Mandhana played in their teams’ successes, as well as significant achievements by other international stars.
