Multiple U.S. Cities Hold 9/11 Remembrance Ceremonies on 24th Anniversary
Communities across the United States are holding remembrance ceremonies to mark the 24th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. In Milwaukee, a ceremony led by County Executive David Crowley will feature a wreath laying at a World Trade Center I-beam recovered from Ground Zero. Honolulu will illuminate key landmarks in blue and hold a remembrance ceremony near the Eternal Flame, with flags flown at half-staff across the state. The Flight 93 National Memorial in Pennsylvania will conduct a service including a Moment of Remembrance and wreath laying to honor the passengers and crew who died when their plane crashed. Fort Riley, Kansas, will host a commemoration at the Global War on Terrorism Memorial to honor those lost on 9/11 as well as service members and first responders since. Additionally, Mobile, Alabama held a remembrance event honoring first responders and community heroes who serve with courage and sacrifice.
