Kingston Woman Charged with Assaulting Child at Motel

Brittany Santaliz, a 33-year-old woman from Kingston, New York, was arrested for unlawfully entering a motel room in Ulster County and assaulting a 12-year-old child by striking the child multiple times in the face. The child sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene, while the victim's parents intervened to stop the assault and contacted police. Santaliz faces multiple charges including first-degree burglary, third-degree assault, and acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17. She was arraigned and held on bail, with a scheduled court appearance in Ulster County. In a separate incident, Ethan Johnston, a 21-year-old man from Bean Station, Tennessee, was arrested in Mississippi and charged with attempted second-degree murder following an assault on a 20-year-old woman in a Knoxville apartment, who suffered significant facial injuries. Johnston is to be extradited to Tennessee for prosecution.
