Dozens Dead in Lake Kivu Boat Capsize

A tragic boat capsizing incident on Lake Kivu in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo has resulted in at least 50 confirmed deaths, with witnesses reporting that rescue teams have recovered numerous bodies from the water. Eyewitnesses noted that the vessel was overloaded and sank just meters from the port of Kituku while attempting to dock. Survivors of the accident, numbering around 10, have been taken to a local hospital for treatment.
