Weekend Wrong‑Way Crashes Kill Multiple People
A string of recent highway crashes across the U.S. killed multiple people and left others critically injured, with several incidents involving wrong‑way drivers. In Allegan County, Mich., investigators say a 38‑year‑old Grand Rapids woman made a U‑turn, drove the wrong way on US‑131 and crashed head‑on, killing three people (including the at‑fault driver) and critically injuring three others; authorities say alcohol may have been a factor and juveniles were among the victims. On the Florida Turnpike, two drivers identified by family members as Gabriel Sequeira and Gustavo Adolfo died in an early‑morning wrong‑way head‑on collision near Bird Road, and a second wrong‑way vehicle later plowed into the crash scene and a trooper’s cruiser, sending additional people to the hospital as the Florida Highway Patrol investigates. In Kansas, a wrong‑way driver on K‑4 struck a northbound SUV, killing a 67‑year‑old woman and seriously injuring a family of four including small children, and other fatal crashes near Kansas City have prompted local probes. A Halloween‑night crash in Bucks County, Pa., killed three teenagers and left a 14‑year‑old in critical condition after a 15‑year‑old driver lost control, and a three‑vehicle collision in Amelia County, Va., injured three after a driver failed to stop at a sign; authorities nationwide are conducting mechanical, toxicology and impairment investigations into several of these crashes.
