Florida Man Arrested for Domestic Violence After Wife Found Dead in Canal

Jeffrey Ernest Evans, a 43-year-old former firefighter from Coral Springs, Florida, was arrested on a domestic violence charge after his wife, Jessica Lloyd, was found dead floating in a nearby canal. Evans called 911 reporting that his wife was having a "mental break," but a second caller reported a woman screaming that her husband was trying to kill her shortly after. Police found Lloyd face down in the canal and pronounced her dead at 10:05 p.m. Evans admitted to police that he and Lloyd were having marital problems, including issues related to infidelity, and described a struggle over a laptop earlier that day before she ran outside screaming. He tried to restrain her but stopped to avoid appearing as the aggressor. Evans has a prior domestic violence charge from 2020 and was released on a $1,000 bond with a GPS monitor and passport surrender; the investigation into Lloyd's death is ongoing.
