Prince William Unveils Major Dartmoor Vision Plan

Prince William, the Prince of Wales, has launched the Dartmoor Vision, a 20-year restoration plan developed in collaboration with the Duchy of Cornwall and the Central Dartmoor Landscape Recovery Project. The initiative aims to restore peatlands, reintroduce traditional grazing, increase woodland along river valleys, and promote sustainable farming to enhance biodiversity and landscape resilience. Climate projections warn Dartmoor could face hotter, drier summers, fewer frost days, and potential loss of its blanket peatland if global temperatures rise by 2°C, threatening carbon storage and wildlife. The plan emphasizes balancing ecological restoration with community wellbeing, fostering partnerships among landowners, farmers, and conservationists. William stressed the urgency of moving from planning to action, with the project coordinating public and private investment for environmental management and community resilience. The Dartmoor Vision is the largest restoration project of its kind in the UK.
