Fort Stewart Lockdown After Active Shooter Incident
Fort Stewart, the largest Army base east of the Mississippi River in southeast Georgia, was placed on lockdown following an active shooter incident in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area. Authorities have confirmed casualties, with reports indicating at least four people have been hospitalized, though the total number of dead or injured remains unconfirmed as the situation continues. All personnel at the base have been instructed to shelter in place, keep doors and windows locked, and maintain open telephone lines. Local schools have also been locked down as a precaution. Governor Brian Kemp and Representative Buddy Carter are monitoring the situation and have expressed support for victims and first responders. Law enforcement remains on the scene, and the shooter's identity has not yet been released.
