Fundraising Walks Across UK, Australia Raise Awareness for Cancer, Down Syndrome

Johnny Ratcliffe, a 45-year-old man with terminal cancer, is leading a fundraising walk on World Down Syndrome Day to raise over £40,000 for charity. Diagnosed with anorectal mucosal melanoma, Ratcliffe plans to walk with about 85 friends from St James' Hospital in Leeds to the Down Syndrome Support Service in Bingley, despite his health challenges. Meanwhile, Joshua Greer is also walking 21 miles in Memphis, aiming to raise $21,000 for the Down Syndrome Association of Memphis and the Mid-South. Both events highlight the resilience of individuals facing personal health battles while contributing to charitable causes. Ratcliffe has already raised over £35,000 through his Just Giving page, with funds supporting melanoma patients and Down syndrome services. These acts of determination showcase the inspiring spirit of community support and awareness on significant health-related days.
