Two Motorcyclists Die in Single-Vehicle Crashes on I-85 Charlotte, I-664 Chesapeake
Two fatal motorcycle crashes occurred recently involving Harley-Davidson riders. In northeast Charlotte, 24-year-old Mycle Ryan Bruce died after his motorcycle veered off the Interstate 85 South off-ramp to Interstate 485 Inner, striking a ditch and overturning; he was ejected from the bike and died at the scene. The ramp was closed for several hours during the investigation before reopening. Separately, in Chesapeake, Virginia, 34-year-old Tyler M. Cavanagh died after his motorcycle overturned while merging onto Interstate 664; alcohol was a contributing factor. Cavanagh was ejected from the bike, and despite life-saving efforts, he died at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. Both incidents underscore the dangers of motorcycle travel, especially involving loss of control and potential impairment.
