Two School Lockdowns in San Diego and Sierra Vista

Two separate school lockdowns were reported this week: Joyce Clark Middle School in Sierra Vista and Clairemont High School with nearby Marston Middle School in San Diego. At Joyce Clark, officers said the lockdown followed an alleged threat by a student; they took the student into custody and said there was no ongoing danger. In San Diego, police and campus officers received a report just after 11 a.m., deployed roughly 30 officers and a helicopter, and placed the high school and nearby middle school on lockdown while conducting safety sweeps. Students were kept in locked classrooms and parents were directed to staging areas during the response. San Diego police later determined the Clairemont report was unfounded and lifted the lockdown shortly after 1 p.m.; no injuries were reported and investigations remain ongoing.
