Texas Longhorns Add Coaches Brockermeyer, Akina, Garrett

Luke Brockermeyer, a former linebacker for the Texas Longhorns, has been appointed as a defensive graduate assistant at North Texas, where he will work with the defensive line. Brockermeyer previously served as a graduate assistant at TCU, contributing to the Horned Frogs' successful 9-4 season, including a New Mexico Bowl victory. His playing career at Texas saw him earn a scholarship and achieve All-Big 12 honorable mention honors in 2021. Meanwhile, the Longhorns have made significant coaching changes, including the hiring of Duane Akina as defensive backs coach, returning after a successful tenure from 2001 to 2013. Akina's appointment follows the departure of Terry Joseph, who presided over one of the nation's top secondaries last season. Additionally, Justin Garrett has joined Texas as the running backs assistant coach, aiming to enhance the offense as the team prepares for a challenging SEC schedule.
