Deepti Sharma Leads UP Warriorz in WPL 2025

Deepti Sharma has been named the captain of UP Warriorz for the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 following Alyssa Healy's withdrawal due to a stress injury in her foot. Deepti, who was the vice-captain in the previous season, has been a consistent performer, scoring 295 runs at a strike rate of 136.57 and taking 10 wickets in WPL 2024. Her leadership role marks an increased presence of Indian captains in the league, joining others like Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana. The team will miss Healy's batting prowess, as she was the highest run-scorer with 428 runs in 17 matches. West Indies' Chinelle Henry has been signed as Healy's replacement for the season. Despite Healy's absence, Deepti's proven track record and leadership experience are expected to bolster the Warriorz's campaign.
