Serbian Officials Resign After Train Station Tragedy

A former Serbian construction minister and ten others have been arrested following the deadly collapse of a railway station roof in Novi Sad, which resulted in 15 fatalities earlier this month. The incident has sparked widespread outrage among citizens who blame corruption and inadequate oversight in construction for the tragedy. Trade Minister Tomislav Momirovic, who served as construction minister during the renovation, has also resigned amid increasing pressure for accountability. Opposition lawmakers have been actively protesting, demanding further resignations, including that of Prime Minister Milos Vucevic. The government is under scrutiny as investigations continue, with over 70 individuals questioned by prosecutors. Opposition MP Marinika Tepic emphasized that public pressure was crucial in achieving these arrests, although she expressed dissatisfaction with the current charges brought against the arrested officials.
