Geno Auriemma Ties NCAA Coaching Win Record

UConn's women's basketball coach, Geno Auriemma, tied the NCAA Division I record for career wins with his 1,216th victory, equaling the mark set by retired Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer. Auriemma achieved this milestone as UConn defeated North Carolina 69-58, with Paige Bueckers scoring 29 points. Indya Nivar led the Tar Heels with 15 points, but the team struggled offensively. Auriemma has a chance to break the record against Fairleigh Dickinson, boasting an 88.2% win percentage and 11 NCAA championships. Along with VanDerveer and Mike Krzyzewski, Auriemma is among the few Division I coaches to achieve over 1,200 wins.
