Bronx Navy Veteran Killed; Suspect Arrested, Accomplice Sought
Keino Campbell, a 27-year-old U.S. Navy veteran, was fatally shot three times in the chest during a suspected road rage incident in the Bronx around 2 a.m. on June 14, following a minor car collision and confrontation. Authorities arrested 20-year-old Michael Aracena at the airport as he allegedly attempted to flee to the Dominican Republic after abandoning his car in Pennsylvania. Some family members allege that Aracena demanded money before firing. Campbell, remembered as a peacemaker and Navy veteran with aspirations to become a mechanical engineer, died after losing consciousness and being transported to Jacobi Medical Center. The incident has devastated his family, who are now calling for changes to gun laws and youth programs. Aracena is charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon, is being held without bail, and authorities are searching for an alleged accomplice.
