Defending national champion Penn State is ranked second with 21 first-place votes, while Pittsburgh achieved its highest-ever preseason ranking at No. 3, followed by Louisville and Texas. Notable rankings include Wisconsin at No. 8, Texas A&M at No. 9 (their highest ever), Creighton at No. 12, and Kansas at No. 14.
