Buena Vista Social Club Musical to Open on Broadway

The acclaimed musical 'Buena Vista Social Club' will make its Broadway debut with previews starting on February 21, 2025, and an official opening on March 19 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. The production, directed by Saheem Ali with a book by Marco Ramirez, is inspired by the legendary Grammy-winning album and chronicles the journey of Cuban musicians from the 1950s to their reunion in the 1990s. The cast includes Natalie Venetia Belcon as Omara and Julio Monge as Compay, with a live band led by Tony-winning composer David Yazbek. The choreography is by Patricia Delgado and Justin Peck, enhancing the show's vibrant representation of Cuban music and culture. The musical follows the historical events surrounding the formation of the original Buena Vista Social Club, which gained global fame after the release of their album in 1997. Produced by Orin Wolf, John Styles, and Barbara Broccoli, the show promises an engaging blend of storytelling and music celebrating Cuba's rich artistic heritage.
