California Bill Seeks Statewide Bike Highway Networks

In 2025, cycling advocacy and charity events gained momentum with several notable activities across the United States and the UK. California's Bike Highways Bill, AB 954, aims to establish high-quality, long-distance separated bikeways, with over 1,250 supporters urging the Senate Transportation Committee to advance the legislation; the bill now focuses on defining bike highways in state planning to enable future development and funding. In the UK, multiple charity rides have been organized: a 100-mile Brompton bike ride in South Wales raises funds for Anthony Nolan, a stem cell transplant charity, inspired by a personal family loss to lymphoma; and a 900-mile journey from Land’s End to John O’Groats is being undertaken by a chemotherapy nurse and her endurance coach to support cancer and SIDS research charities.
