Kelsey Calvert, a 28-year-old prison worker from Ryhope, Sunderland, has pleaded guilty to misconduct in public office and bringing a prohibited item, codeine, into HMP Holme House, a category C men's prison in Stockton-on-Tees. The court heard that her inappropriate relationship with an inmate occurred on and before November 22, 2022. During the proceedings at Teesside Crown Court, Calvert sobbed as she acknowledged her offences. Judge Richard Bennett has adjourned the case for a pre-sentence report and scheduled sentencing for October 4, granting her unconditional bail until then.
