MS-13 Member Arrest Highlights Anti-Gang Efforts

Marlyn Medrano-Ortiz, an 18-year-old known MS-13 gang member, was arrested in connection with the murder of Mijal Conejero-Romera and Diego Alexander Woollett in Sterling, Virginia. The victims, both 22, were shot dead on August 28th following an altercation. Medrano-Ortiz, who is in the country illegally, was apprehended by Alexandria police after being recognized from a bulletin issued by Loudoun County authorities. He has been charged with second-degree murder and a firearm felony, with additional charges possible as the investigation continues. The arrest underscores a broader effort to combat gang violence in the region, highlighted by Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin's executive order aimed at addressing such issues. Sheriff Mike Chapman emphasized the zero-tolerance policy for gang-related violence in Loudoun County, promising to pursue justice for the victims.
