Measles Cases Surge in Belize, Israel Amid Health Alerts

Belize and Israel have both reported new measles cases, with authorities in each country tracing several infections to close contacts or recent travel. In Belize, five additional cases emerged in the Cayo District, all within one household linked to previously confirmed imported cases, prompting heightened surveillance and ongoing vaccination campaigns. Health officials there have tested contacts, including vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals, and all laboratory samples sent to Mexico have tested negative so far. Israel's Health Ministry reported eight cases in regions including Tel Aviv and Bnei Brak, with most patients unvaccinated and some infections traced to international travel or exposure to recent travelers. Both countries' health ministries emphasize the importance of ensuring up-to-date measles vaccinations, especially for children and travelers, and recommend special precautions for pregnant women, immunosuppressed individuals, and infants.
