Czech Man Stabbed in Carrick-on-Suir; Woman Arrested

A 47-year-old Czech man was found unresponsive with stab wounds at a house on Callanan’s Lane in Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary, at about 11–11:30pm on Saturday and was later pronounced dead. A woman in her 20s — reported in some accounts as a 24-year-old Czech and known to the deceased — was arrested at the scene and remains detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. The scene was preserved for forensic examination and the Garda Technical Bureau and the Office of the State Pathologist have been engaged; a post-mortem examination has been or will be carried out. Gardaí have conducted door-to-door inquiries, are canvassing for CCTV and other information, and have appealed for witnesses; the probe is being treated as a suspected fatal assault and may be upgraded to a murder investigation depending on post-mortem findings.
