Teen Charged with DUI Manslaughter in Child's Death

A 19-year-old named Joshua Montero has been charged with DUI manslaughter after fatally hitting a 2-year-old boy riding a tricycle in Tavares, Florida. The incident occurred on Labor Day when Montero, driving a speeding Toyota Tacoma, struck and dragged the child a few feet. The child's parents, who were in their driveway, yelled at Montero to slow down but to no avail. Montero, who appeared intoxicated, stayed at the scene and later provided breath samples above the legal limit for those under 21. Neighbors attempted CPR, but the child was pronounced dead at the hospital. Montero is currently held without bond at the Lake County Jail.
