Safe Superintelligence nears $1B fundraising at $30B valuation

Safe Superintelligence (SSI), an AI startup founded by Ilya Sutskever, is reportedly nearing a funding round that could raise over $1 billion, valuing the company at more than $30 billion. This valuation marks a significant increase from its previous $5 billion valuation just months ago, reflecting strong investor confidence despite the company not yet generating revenue or launching a commercial product. Greenoaks Capital Partners is leading the investment, contributing about $500 million. SSI's focus on developing 'safe superintelligence' differentiates it from competitors like OpenAI, which have moved towards commercializing AI products. Sutskever's departure from OpenAI was influenced by disagreements over the organization's direction towards artificial general intelligence, which he perceived as risky.
