Liverpool's River of Light Festival Returns with 10 Large-Scale Science-Inspired Installations

The annual River of Light festival in Liverpool returns from October 24 to November 2, 2025, transforming the city's waterfront into an outdoor art gallery with 10 large-scale illuminated installations. This year's theme, "The Science of Light," highlights art inspired by science, technology, and nature, featuring works such as "Face Value," an interactive AI and robotics light game, "Dandelion," inspired by the flower's medicinal qualities, and "Within Water," which explores marine bioluminescence. The 3km trail covers key locations including the Royal Albert Dock, Pier Head, Exchange Flags, and Liverpool ONE, and offers quiet hours on October 26 and 29 for visitors with sensory needs. The event operates daily from 5pm to 9pm, with extended hours until 10pm on November 1 for a late-night viewing. Free to attend with no tickets required, the festival encourages visitors to explore displays in any order and aims to celebrate Liverpool's vibrant science and innovation community while drawing thousands of visitors.
