New Jersey Devils Sign Kevin Rooney, Luke Glendening to PTO Deals
Kevin Rooney, who recently had his best NHL season with the Calgary Flames, has signed a professional tryout agreement with the New Jersey Devils, the team that initially signed him in 2016. At 32 years old, Rooney will compete for a fourth-line center role during the Devils' training camp, aiming to secure a full contract. Last season, he appeared in 70 games with Calgary, scoring five goals and ten points, while establishing himself as a dependable depth forward. Rooney’s career includes nine NHL seasons with the Devils, Rangers, and Flames, accumulating 32 goals and 60 points, and postseason experience with the Rangers. Alongside Rooney, 36-year-old Luke Glendening also signed a professional tryout with the Devils and will compete for a roster spot. Both players face competition as the Devils prepare for the 2025-26 NHL season.
