The Pitt, The Studio Win Top Emmys Amid Netflix, HBO Max, Apple Competition
At the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, HBO's medical drama "The Pitt" won Outstanding Drama Series, with Noah Wyle earning Best Actor in a Drama for his role, marking his first Emmy win after multiple nominations. Apple TV+'s "The Studio," co-created by Seth Rogen, set a new record for most Emmys won by a comedy series in a single season with 13 awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series and acting, directing, and writing honors for Rogen. Netflix's "Adolescence," a limited series about a British teen accused of murder, dominated its category with six wins, notably awarding 15-year-old Owen Cooper as the youngest Emmy winner in over 40 years. Other notable wins included HBO Max's "Severance," which earned Britt Lower and Tramell Tillman their first Emmys for lead and supporting drama roles, respectively. Despite "Severance" entering with the most nominations, "The Pitt" triumphed in drama, illustrating a victory of classic storytelling over newer contenders. The ceremony also featured moments addressing time management and gratitude, with Stephen Colbert receiving a standing ovation amidst the recent cancellation of his show by CBS.
