Multiple Arrests Over Targeted York Cycle Path Stabbing
North Yorkshire Police have made a third arrest in connection with a targeted stabbing that occurred on August 22 on a cycle path near Derwent Avenue in York. A 25-year-old man from Leeds was taken into custody for questioning and remains in police custody, while a 19-year-old man, also from Leeds, was arrested earlier on suspicion of assisting an offender and has since been released on conditional bail. The victim, a man in his fifties from York, was seriously injured with leg and abdomen wounds and remains hospitalized. Another man in his fifties was initially arrested shortly after the incident but has been released without charge. Authorities have emphasized that the stabbing was a targeted attack and that the wider community is not considered at risk as the investigation continues. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
