Cillian Murphy Not Appearing in 28 Years Later
Cillian Murphy will not reprise his role as Jim in the upcoming film 28 Years Later, although he is involved as an executive producer. Producer Andrew Macdonald confirmed that while fans speculated about Murphy's return after the trailer's release, he is not featured in the first installment of the new trilogy. The film, set to premiere on June 20, 2025, takes place nearly three decades after the events of 28 Days Later, focusing on a family living on Holy Island. The character that sparked the confusion in the trailer was played by extra Angus Neill, who bears a resemblance to Murphy's iconic character. Despite Murphy's absence from the first film, there's hope for a future return in sequels, including the already-shot 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, set for release in 2026. The creative team behind the film includes director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland, both returning from the original film.
