Three Arrested in Flint for Child, Animal Abuse; Dead Puppy Found in Pizza Box

Three Flint residents face serious charges after authorities discovered two dead dogs and two malnourished dogs living in deplorable conditions alongside a 9-year-old boy. The investigation was initiated when AT&T workers noticed stolen WiFi wires and called the police, leading to the grim discovery of animals in dire need and a child in neglectful circumstances. Sheriff Chris Swanson reported that one dead dog was found in a cage and another dead puppy was located in a pizza box, while the living dogs were emaciated and lacked food and water for weeks. The home itself was described as uninhabitable, with no power and rotten food throughout. The individuals charged include 38-year-old Charles Ashbaker, 29-year-old Kelly Walker, and 47-year-old Dougal Nelson Jr., all facing multiple felony charges related to animal and child abuse. The two surviving dogs are now under the care of animal control, and the child has been placed in a safe environment by Child Protective Services.
