Oakland County Student Charged for School Violence Threat

A 16-year-old male student at Lake Orion High School in Michigan has been arrested for allegedly making a violent threat on social media, claiming that an unnamed person would shoot up the school on March 5. The threat, made early Saturday morning, led to a significant number of absences, with 490 students calling in sick on Monday alone. Sheriff Michael Bouchard confirmed the student's arrest and emphasized the serious consequences of making such threats, stating the student had no access to firearms at home. The incident has raised concerns, especially following the tragic Oxford High School shooting in 2021. Authorities were alerted by a resident who saw the post, prompting the sheriff's Computer Crimes Unit to act quickly. The student is currently held at Oakland County Children's Village, awaiting a court hearing.
