Final 2024 Supermoon and Leonid Meteor Shower

The Beaver Moon, the last supermoon of 2024, will appear on November 15th, reaching peak illumination at 4:29 p.m. EST and remaining visible through the weekend. This supermoon is part of a series that began in August and is named for the time when beavers prepare for winter, rooted in Native American and European folklore. While weather conditions vary, clear skies are expected in some areas, but the moon's brightness may obscure the Leonid meteor shower occurring simultaneously. Supermoons occur three to four times a year, and the next one is anticipated in October 2025. The Beaver Moon also heralds other astronomical events, like the Pleiades star cluster, enhancing the celestial spectacle.
