Princess of Wales Adds Qing Vase to V&A Display
The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, has curated a 'Makers and Creators' mini exhibition at the V&A East Storehouse in London, featuring eight historic objects she selected, including a Qing dynasty porcelain vase, a watercolour by Beatrix Potter, a 15th-century Somerset church tile, a 19th-century hand-quilted bedcover, and a costume from the Royal Ballet's 1960 production of The Sleeping Beauty. Working with the museum's curatorial team, Kate's choices reflect her belief in how historic artifacts can inform modern creativity and our understanding of cultural heritage. The exhibition is part of over 100 rotating mini displays at the new V&A East Storehouse, which aims to increase public access to its vast collection. Kate, who is the Royal Patron of the V&A and has an art history background, contributed a personal statement highlighting the value of creative expression. Visitors can view the free, self-guided exhibit until early 2026. Her involvement has been praised for adding renewed energy and a personal touch to the museum’s mission.
