Sean Kingston’s Mother Sentenced Five Years Federal Prison $1M Fraud
Janice Turner, mother of singer Sean Kingston, was sentenced to five years in federal prison and three years of supervised release for her central role in a $1 million wire fraud scheme involving fake wire transfer confirmations to acquire luxury goods. Turner and Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, were convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and multiple counts of wire fraud after defrauding jewelers, car dealers, and other businesses from April 2023 to March 2024. The fraudulent transactions included expensive watches, a custom luxury bed, a bullet-proof Escalade, and a large LED TV, with many luxury items seized during a raid on Kingston’s Florida home. Turner, who has a prior federal bank fraud conviction and faces deportation to Jamaica after serving her sentence, apologized in court citing her intention to support her son in the difficult entertainment industry. Kingston is scheduled to be sentenced on August 28, 2025, and was arrested in May 2024 while serving probation related to a separate trafficking stolen property case. Judge David S. Leibowitz described Turner as the “nerve center” of the fraud scheme, despite her attorneys’ requests for a reduced sentence due to her health issues and charitable work.
