Nebraska Women in Agriculture Exhibit Marks 40 Years
The Nebraska Women in Agriculture program is commemorating its 40th anniversary with the photo exhibition 'Legacy of Leadership: Faces of Nebraska Women in Agriculture,' currently displayed at the West Central Research and Extension Center in North Platte and at the Nebraska East Union until October 31. The exhibit showcases over 70 portraits by photographer John Noltner, highlighting the contributions of women in Nebraska's agriculture, which significantly impacts the state's economy. Program director Jessica Groskopf emphasizes the importance of recognizing women's roles and challenges in agriculture, with a free lecture scheduled for November 18 to further explore these discussions. Additionally, a similar exhibition has been featured at various state events and will be part of the upcoming Nebraska Women in Agriculture Conference in February 2025. This initiative is supported by a grant from Humanities Nebraska. Concurrently, initiatives in the Philippines are also focusing on women's empowerment within agriculture, addressing poverty and food security among rural communities through a significant new project.
