Former Student Pleads Guilty to Multiple Charges

Sophia Rosing, a former University of Kentucky student, pleaded guilty to multiple charges including assault, disorderly conduct, and public intoxication after a racist attack on a Black student, Kylah Spring, in 2022. The incident, captured on video and shared widely on social media, showed Rosing hurling racial slurs over 200 times and physically assaulting Spring. As part of a plea deal, a felony charge was reduced to a misdemeanor. Rosing faces up to one year in jail, 100 hours of community service, and a $25 fine. The mediation process allowed victims to confront Rosing, though Spring expressed skepticism about Rosing's remorse. Rosing has been banned from the university campus and will be sentenced in October.
