Direct High-Speed Train Launches Berlin to Paris

Deutsche Bahn (DB) and SNCF Voyageurs have launched a new direct high-speed train service between Berlin and Paris, significantly improving travel convenience with an approximately eight-hour journey that eliminates the need for transfers. The service, which began on December 16, 2024, operates once daily in each direction and features modern amenities on the Class 407 ICE 3 trains, including onboard Wi-Fi and catering services. Ticket prices start from €59.99 in second class, and the route includes stops in Frankfurt, Karlsruhe, and Strasbourg, enhancing connectivity for business travelers. This initiative is seen as a symbol of German-French cooperation, reflecting the growing demand for rail travel in Europe. However, the service does not offer substantial time savings compared to existing indirect routes, as travel still takes about eight hours. Deutsche Bahn aims to improve its punctuality, which has been a concern, with a target of over 75% on-time arrivals by 2027.
