Pakistan Arrests Suspects in Greece Boat Tragedy

Pakistani authorities have intensified their crackdown on human smuggling networks following a tragic boat capsizing off the coast of Greece that resulted in the deaths of multiple Pakistani nationals. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested key suspects, including Muhammad Aslam, who is accused of extorting millions from victims and orchestrating their perilous journey to Europe via Libya. In total, Aslam allegedly collected Rs8.5 million ($30,660) from aspiring migrants, highlighting the financial motivations behind such dangerous crossings. Additional arrests include Saeed Ahmed, linked to the creation of fake travel documents, and two FIA officials for negligence during passenger screening at Faisalabad Airport. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities emphasizing that they will not tolerate human trafficking and are committed to holding those responsible accountable. The Pakistani government is also seeking greater cooperation with international agencies to combat human trafficking effectively.
