Detention Officer Isaiah Bias Killed in Assault
Officer Isaiah Bias, a 28-year-old detention officer with the Ellis County Sheriff's Office, was killed Monday after being assaulted by inmate Arron Semeion Thompson during a transfer back to his cell. Sheriff Brad Norman described Bias as an 'outstanding person' who had been involved with the department since age 14, highlighting his dedication and family-oriented nature. Thompson, 45, who has a long criminal history including charges of assaulting a public servant, now faces a capital murder charge following the fatal incident. The attack occurred in a segregated area of the jail where Thompson spent most of his time alone. Sheriff Norman stated that the Texas Rangers will conduct a thorough investigation into the assault, with the sheriff's office cooperating fully. Fellow officers attempted to aid Bias after the attack, but he was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
