Maharashtra is moving forward with the construction of India's longest elevated road, a 53-kilometer six-lane project connecting Pune to Shirur, which will link to the Balasaheb Thackeray Samruddhi Expressway. The project, with an estimated cost of ₹7,515 crore, aims to enhance connectivity and reduce travel times between Pune and Nagpur, benefiting both trade and tourism in the region. The Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC) will oversee the project, which is set to begin within two years and will be executed in six stages. Additionally, ₹2,050 crore is allocated for upgrading the Ahmednagar Bypass road, contributing to the overall estimated cost of ₹9,565 crore for the entire highway enhancement. The new expressway will alleviate traffic congestion in key areas and provide better access to major cities and tourist destinations. This infrastructure upgrade is expected to foster economic growth across Maharashtra, integrating various regions more effectively.
