The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is set to significantly reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun to just 2.5 hours by December 2024, down from the current six hours. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) aims to open the first section, connecting Akshardham to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, by November this year. However, the expressway's link to Haridwar will not be completed until May 2025, as it was a later addition to the project. This 264-kilometer expressway will also feature Asia's longest elevated wildlife corridor to minimize man-animal conflicts in nearby national parks. Prime Minister Modi has emphasized the importance of timely project completion, with all land-related issues reportedly resolved. The expressway will include seven entry points for ease of access and aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the region.
